Te Reo Taringa tū ki te rangi, taringa areare ki te whenua, Taringa whakarongo, kia rite, kia rite, kia mau…..hi! (You have one new message) Farewell my bonnie boys and girls You're lost in the ether You're lost to the world Is this the same planet, can you hear me or see me? I'd like to talk too you, take a walk with you Run in the sun or just gaze at the stars (Add photo. Send) But it's farewell my bonnie boys and girls You're lost in the ether You're lost to the world As the earth keeps on warming, the cat plays piano The fat man keeps dancing and the baby keeps laughing The dog runs around, just chasing his tail (Laugh out loud) But it's all bread and circuses Wired with no connection It's all bread and circuses In a world where nothing is real anymore So it's farewell my bonnie boys and girls You're lost in the ether You're lost to the world Your friends are all virtual, you're faced and you're booked You're streamed and you're posted, you're linked and you're webbed You're hashed and you're tagged... but nobody's home So it's farewell my bonnie boys and girls You're lost in the ether You're lost to the world Farewell my bonnie boys and girls (Unfriend. There's a cloud overhead It's so black and yet There's a space where the sun still shines through There's a place in our hearts It's so light and so dark A small candle it burns just for you And the words of this song They're so right They're so wrong But I know that you'd understand It's a verse or a prayer It's a sad little air And a jig from the boys in the band

WHERE THE MUSIC GOES There's a secret place for the notes of grace That fall from frets and bows Only those that pluck the strings of hearts Know where the music goes And if music be the food of love With the best of friends I've dined The wine we poured a minor chord Played on the strings that bind For the cup we share and the empty chair CHORUS For old friends and the new For those who've gone, we'll still play on And raise a glass or two So you Shanty men strike up again And make the rafters roar We'll shed a tear for the balladeer With his songs of love and war There's a battle anthem stirs the soul There's an aire to sooth the heart There's a song to steer the sailor home There's a voice for every part CHORUS Let the fiddle sound another round Of polka reel or jig In a room out back for the beer and the craic Or the bright lights and the gig We'll play and sing the rights of spring To welcome queens of May On floors of straw or the halls of Lords We'll welcome in the day CHORUS We'll sing again of working men And old ghosts we have laid Of maids who wait by shore and gate And pipers who must be paid For the singer's gift of the third and fifth The verse and chorus line The chosen key of harmony And those that play in time CHORUS

For me this is the story of a rich man who is known by all. This rich man; his weakness his pride. His pride much more that than of any common man. The common feature in this life however… was that his sole, the sole on his shoe was made of leather. Although he placed himself higher than the common man and disliked involving himself in conversations, he didn’t know that the cobbler’s shop was at the very end of the seventh road. He lacked the ability to find the cobbler all by himself, so he had to ask various common folk for directions. This angered him and exposed his worst sin. The seventh sin.. pride! The experience gave him time to realise that in fact he was no better than any other man. He was in fact an equal man. By the time he got to the cobbler’s shop to have his sole repaired, his sole had worn thin. But with this, he had to come to realise that he must in fact be humble, because the soles on his shoes are no different to any other man’s. He is but an equal man!

When the cards were dealt in your hand Was it luck or could you see? When it was time for you to place a bet Did play or did you read? When you threw a hook in the ocean Was it chance or could you feel? When you sailed over that special spot Was it a fluke or memory? It’s just the way the cookie crumbles With all of us our crosses to bare Is fate or is there a reason? Should we even question should we dare? For all the lives that you may of saved Is there not some sort of trade? Is it just the way the cookie crumbles? Or are there laws that must be obeyed? When you through your net in the river Did they come or did you call? Was luck or was that skill ? Or was it none of that at work at all? It’s just the way the cookie crumbles With all of us our crosses to bare Is fate or is there a reason ? Should we even question should we dare?

about

"It's the way the cookie crumbles".... things don't always turn out the way we hope.
The genre of the music on this album is a break away from the traditional Celtic music we had played in 'different bands together'. The tracks are all original compositions that have largely resulted from jam sessions, chord progressions and just seeing how 'the cookie crumbles'.
This collection of music reflects the loss of something, an ideal, a memory, a friend, family member or a loved one. This album is a tribute to all these things.
